Updates & Announcements A Message about Worship from Pastor Tim Smiley Several teams, including our church staff, have been working toward the next and new phase of worship for the Trinity community. I have asked that all these teams, as well as activities offered by our Trinity Christian School and Preschool, place health and safety as the highest value. We are called to love God and to love our neighbor. This, said Jesus, is the summation of the Law and the Prophets. And the Apostle Paul counseled that nothing else matters save for “faith working through love.” (Galatians 5:6) We also value excellence in worship, flexibility during these days, and unity within and among our community. These values guide our decision-making. A Health & Safety Team, led by Jane Dunn, has been attending virtual webinars during which infectious disease doctors and leading epidemiologists have offered counsel to churches regarding proper protocols (physical distancing of at least six feet, wearing masks or face shields, etc.) and the risks factors (low, medium and high) for various acts of worship. Singing– congregational as well as ensemble singing from the chancel platform– is a high risk factor given the vocal “projection” required to sing. The Worship Design Team has been thinking through how to create and offer worship with one online service and adding an on-campus worship. The plan was to move to live online streaming of the new on-campus worship service. However, when we realized that the safest worship, at the present moment, would mean no singing, we have reconsidered this move. And, for the past two weeks Florida has set new high marks for the number of daily reported cases with a continuing high number for Palm Beach County. All things considered, for the month of July we will: Continue with online worship, premiering at 9am on June 21st and moving to 10am on June 28th and following Sundays. We will not offer on-campus public worship in July. We will discern next steps as we move into the month of July. We will continue to be flexible designing and offering online worship, seeking how to best provide engaging worship for you and for our online guests. We do plan to offer other forms of fellowship and time with God and each other in the coming weeks. Stay tuned. Please write to me (and through me to our staff, the Worship Design Team, and our Health and Safety Team) with your comments. Help us continually improve worship. And if you have thoughts about how we might come together in community, please do send your thoughts: tsmiley@trinitypbg.org. The Lord bless you and keep us all in the palm of His hand, Rev.
