The Church Calling…
Forty years ago a few couples in Dr. Edward Eissey’s large Sunday school class at Northwood Methodist Church in West Palm Beach responded to a call to establish a new Methodist church located closer to where they lived. Trinity’s first home was an old farmhouse on the southeast corner of Burns Road and Alternate A1A. While their sanctuary was being built, worship services were moved to the cafeteria at the Howell Watkins Middle School. Trinity services continued at the Middle School for the next three years.
A New Home…
Charter member Harold Armstrong, who owned a construction company, built the chapel. Harold himself was out there doing the work – even operating the crane that put the steeple in place. It was clear that God had a hand in gathering people with different areas of expertise to help in the building of Trinity’s facilities. Officially chartered in July of 1962, the Chapel and initial facilities on Military Trail were opened in 1964. Trinity had a home! In the beginning the church operated entirely on a volunteer basis. Today Trinity has grown to a church of many full and part-time staff, 2800 members and over 800 parishioners at weekly worship services.
A Time for Education…
By September of 1966, Trinity established a kindergarten with about 20 students. Within a few years the school had grown to two mornings and one afternoon class. In the early 1980’s the school expanded to include preschool, three and four year olds and in the 1990’s a Wee Care program for the one, and two year olds was staffed.
In August 2007 our newest endeavor opened, blessed with so much love, faith and passion, the Trinity Christian School elementary building was added to the church facilities. The new school will enrich the lives of children from Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
Trinity started with a strong faith and a willingness to work hard; that plus a genuine friendliness and willingness to reach out to the community was all the ingredients needed to build a successful church facility. We are reaching our goal and building a legacy…one life at a time.
